2667: Kvadrat (2016) limited edition print

from DKK 2,200.00

This image is of a creel full of yarn making a warp at Kvadrat’s textile mill, Wooltex, in Huddersfield, United Kingdom. The area around Huddersfield has long been renowned for the quality of its textile mills, but, as has been the way with such industries in the developed world, the last fifty years have seen a steady decline, with business lost to cheaper manufacturers in other countries. As mills closed and were converted into offices and apartments, the market for production of high-end textiles opened up, and the knowledge and skill of the Huddersfield manufacturers began to be appreciated once again. Shot in collaboration with ReD Associates.
